i was just thinking

We spent the long weekend at the lake (yay!, there really is a LAKE with WATER this year). Anyway, Leah was thrilled to be spending the night at Gran's house and got to sleep on her "Dora bed", just a blow up purple mattress with Dora's picture on front- what a treat for a 3 year old. And as I lay on the floor to tuck her in, say prayers & sing our usual renditions of "the First Noel & Because He Lives" . . . I was just thinking about the thousands of mommies who tuck their kids in at night and tell stories, say prayers, and sing sings without daddy. All because they are sharing him with the rest of our country. And that same daddy, lays down in a bunk somewhere in Afghanistan or on a Navy ship in the middle of the Pacific and wonders what stories and songs they will do tonight and I cannot imagine . . .what a hole . . .that must leave . . for all of them.

So, I did NOT want to go noted this memorial day without making a special mention and thanks to all of the mommies, daddies, & children who share their family wholeness so that me and my little family can sleep safely tonight. I have plenty of friends who serve, or have served and have given up countless memories with their loved ones and so I THANK EACH OF YOU personally for doing what I could not be brave enough to do!

thanks,

Kristen Bagwell
grateful wife & mother of 2
