Grandaddy is simply giddy about his only grandchildren and watching him with them is fascinating. He will read story after story (all of the words too) with Leah and I believe he has clocked in more hours holding Preston than any of us. My dad is special in that his words, although few, stay with me. I have saved every card & letter he sent me at college (all 3 of them) and because my favorite childhood story was goodnight moon, he once sent me that book on our birthday! Very special.
Papoo knows what he's doing; he raised 3 boys & has two other grandsons (8yrs old). But Leah does something to that man and everyone can see it! And somewhere between the birth of Leah & Preston, Papoo got brave. Because he now volunteers to hold the tiniest of his heirs more often than he probably even held his own boys. And Papoo is strong in the sense of family traditions, even naming himself Papoo because that what his father was called.
I have hundreds of photos already stored for my children to turn to one day when they need to refresh a memory of Grandaddy or Papoo. Just like these I have of my own Grandaddy (my mom's dad). Thanks to all of the grandads . . . your investments are worth more than you will ever know.
