Today, I watched a mother Gorilla carry her two babies on her back and as one would get rowdy or too close to the edge, mama Gorilla would grab his little foot and pull him back to her side. She had to do this numerous time, because she's obviously dealing with a toddler, right? It was amazing, instinctive, and like the universal language of mothering right there before me. We had such fun at the zoo today, but now Leah has a fever and that always frightens me.

It's not the first or the last fever of her little life, but kissing her sweaty hair at bedtime makes my heart hurt. And "mommy . . . . . I'm cold" over the monitor sends me running up to her. I hate when she's sick. I hate feeling helpless, but I love that she calls out for someone to hold her when she wants to feel better. My mommy did it . . . yours did too. That's what we're best at so that's what we do!

I pray that tonight rest heals her tiny body. "Dear God, be her Great Physician. Amen."

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry she has a fever! I hope she didn't catch that from Lawson. But his wasn't even a 24 hour fever with nothing else so hopefully hers will go fast too! We'll miss you guys tomorrow! Happy 4th!!!!
