Been on my heart this week

a new house decor
a thinner version of myself
to have a winning season
another dessert

i want to be . . .

successful

recognized & rewarded

a great party hostess

a better wife

i hope it looks good . . .

the image that they see

my precious

(& obedient)

children

a clean house

my role as wife,

mother,

servant

Whatever it is

that you

simply cannot

get enough of . . .

that

is your God!

An old man spoke those words to a youth group meeting when I was I was 16. I don't remember his name, but I remember that night and those words come back to me every so often. This time, they came back with a flood of scripture as well.

I know God is poking me, waking me up to my own disobedience.

While there is nothing wrong with setting goals, being successful, upgrading or wishing out loud. . . . when it takes over my thoughts, my schedules, my ambitions, my reasons, my behaviour, my time, my character and my life

then it has taken the place of my God!

"You shall have no other gods before me!"

Exodus 20:3

"Do not follow other gods,

the gods of the peoples around you;"

Deuteronomy 6:14

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

where moth and rust do not destroy,
