SPORTykes

For the past 9 weeks Leah has been 'participating' (I use this term very loosely) in a toddler sports program at a local church called Sport-tykes. It's a great concept where little ones learn the basic concepts of Basketball, T-Ball, & Soccer along with fun encouragement and group participation.
Leah, the only girl, with her 'team'
However, much to her daddy's dismay . . .

Leah was NOT a fan of Sportykes!

. . . until today, when they moved her final class from the Gym to the soccer field! Now, I'm not saying she's Mia Hamm, but my girl has got some skills on the field. She is particular about where the ball is headed and after that first BIG kick . . .
she's on her way!
Speed is not a priority for this little sportyke.
Precision and accuracy are key,
with every tiny moves she makes.
This ball WILL NOT get away from Leah!
It's takes a good 2 -3 minutes of constant cheering & encouragement . . .
and a couple of stops to re-align the ball (with her hands)
but she finally makes it to the goal for the big finish!
Of course, as any soccer playing princess would do, she does not rare back to slam it in the goal. But merely taps it in with yet another tiny kick!
Coach Shannon, along with the whole sideline, is thrilled with her accomplishment.
Leah, however, shys away from the praise . . .
Until stamp & ribbon time!
She is all about prize recognition . . . me too, baby girl!
Leah's buddy John Murray is a champ too and even shares a hug in the goal box!
All the way home in the car,
with her new red ribbon in her sweaty little hand
she kept saying, "Daddy is gonna be so proud of me!"
And he was!
Way to go Leah!

Wow, so so cute. I was confused at first because she looked like she was listening so intently and looked so cool with her foot resting on the soccer ball. Way to go, Leah. I agree, outside activities are always more fun.
